Coil current monitoring is a powerful diagnostic information tool to detect potential electrical and/or mechanical problems during coil operation.
Partial Discharge
Partial Discharge is a localized breaker down with a small portion of dielectric insulation.
Travel & Velocity
Breaker travel will indicate the position of the circuit breaker, by traveling back and forth between the open and closed position. Velocity given in meters per second or feet per second (ft/s) is calculated from a window of the travel curve.
System Line Current and I2T Monitoring
Calculate the I2T value for all the trip-close and display accumulated maximum I2T over the lifetime of the breaker in order to provide the estimated contact wear.
SF6 Gas
By monitoring SF6 on-line, you can proactively understand the following: identify leaks at an early stage, the severity of the leak, the pressure/density with accuracy, and emissions calculations and more.
Mechanism Monitoring
Monitors “Energy storage (accumulator, spring)” and “Compressors, motors, pumps, piping fittings”. Hydraulic/Compressed Air/ Nitrogen leakage in operating mechanism (internal or external leak) and more.
Packages
Qualitrol offers a variety of basic and advanced sensors that can be upgraded with levels of functionality to help meet your condition based monitoring needs.
By monitoring SF6 online, you can proactively understand the following: identify leaks at an early stage, understand the severity of the leak, pressure/density with accuracy after the locking pressure stages, emissions calculations, days to reach alarming stage, density, absolute or relative pressure, vacuum, dew point and more. Track your gas compartments on a real time bases.
Sum total of SF6 mass emission since installation
Forecast (days to lockout) – days until minimum allowable density is reached using current rate of leakage
Display for trending temperature, pressure, density, and dew point values for a selected date range
Calculated separately for each pole during every trip and every close mechanism operation. Accumulated I2T of Trip & Close coil I2T values for each pole.
Continuous 24×7 on-line condition monitoring
Scalable solutions available for single breakers to multi-site with thousands of breakers with centralized monitoring and reporting
Long life design to outlast harsh UHV breaker environments
Understanding integrity of Breaker SF6 compartment and mechanism will provide extra insurance that breakers won’t trip due to SF6 leaks or mechanism energy storage limitation.
Allows corrective actions to be taken before any failure occurs
Optimize maintenance visits based on actual condition
Reduce replacement or repair expenditures
Ensure compliance to EPA SF6 monitoring
Coil current monitoring is a powerful diagnostic information tool to detect potential electrical and/or mechanical problems during coil operation. Looking for its integrity 24/7, current and operation time can help to identify changes on the characteristics before failure.
Accurate and early incipient fault detection
Continuous monitoring of key parameters
Fleet-wide breaker monitoring
Track charging current on the mechanism motor current, it will provide not only the charging time and pump starts, but also the current profile of your motor, allowing analyses to be make providing early fault indications.
Provides evidence for replacements or retrofits based on fleet monitoring of breakers from various OEMs and vintages
Repetitive pattern recognition for failed conditions using centralized SMARTSUB software
Records deviations from OEM’s stated breaker nameplate information
Reduce the risk by tracking early SF6 leak and mechanism integrity; apply SF6 and pump start counting monitoring.
3 alarm relay outputs for integration into SCADA, local Annunciation Built-in alarm logging and reporting engine with acknowledge and reset functions
All alarms and events are stored in a log to be retrieved by remote users
