118 ITM Intelligent Transformer Monitor 2025 Product Update
At Qualitrol, we continuously invest in sustaining our products to ensure long-term reliability, availability, and support. As part of our ongoing product lifecycle management, we are notifying customers that the Qualitrol 118ITM Intelligent Transformer Monitor is transitioning to updated internal components to support long-term availability and alignment with current component and technology standards.
The 118ITM is a dry-type transformer monitor that tracks transformer temperature in real time, manages cooling fan control, and connects to SCADA systems. It is widely used in plants, data centers, and renewable energy sites.
What Is Changing
These updates do not change the 118ITM's specifications, interfaces, intended use, or field operation. Installation, configuration, and ongoing operation remain unchanged, and no customer action is required.
For transparency, newer production units may exhibit the following observable characteristics. Most are cosmetic or related to normal startup behavior and have no impact on performance or operation.
Observable Characteristics in Newer Production Units
Characteristic | Details |
|---|---|
Startup LED behavior | Front-panel indicator lamps may briefly illuminate during power-up before turning off. Newer units may also exhibit a slightly longer boot cycle compared to earlier builds. |
Fan Exerciser behavior | The Fan Exerciser feature may run shortly after power-up, causing the FANS indicator and fan output to remain on for approximately one minute during startup. By default, this is set to run one minute every seven days. Timing can be adjusted using the 118ITM configurator with no hardware changes required. |
Temperature reading stabilization | The displayed temperature may take approximately one minute to stabilize following power-up. During this initial period, particularly when the fan is enabled, the temperature may temporarily read lower than ambient until stabilization is complete. |
USB/PC connection | The device may enumerate under a different COM port than earlier units on the same computer. Selecting the appropriate COM port in the PC's device manager will provide a stable connection. |
Additional internal green LEDs | Some updated units include additional internal green LEDs that illuminate after power-up. These are intended for Qualitrol service and support visibility only and have no impact on functionality or customer operation. |
What Has Not Changed
The 118ITM's use and application, electrical performance, specifications, interfaces, installation, configuration, and ongoing operation expectations all remain the same. Standard product documentation, including the product manual and brochure, has been updated as part of routine maintenance to align with current production. All standard support and service processes continue unchanged.
